Are You a Positive Parent?

Being positive is a good way to improve kids' behavior. Kids need to know what they do right, and they need to feel loved. Here's a quiz to see how well you're practicing positive parenting.

Give yourself five points for something you usually do, zero points for something you never do—or any score in between you think you deserve.

___1. I compliment my child more than I criticize him.
___2. I tell my child I believe he will succeed.
___3. I say "I love you" to my child every day.
___4. I praise my child when he tries hard, even if he fails.
___5. I remind my child of his past accomplishments.

How did you score?

A score of 20 points and above means you're focusing on the positive. Fifteen to 19 is average. Below 15? Try some of the ideas in the quiz to be more positive.
